Senator Patterson visits Bowie State University
Senator Patterson Senator Patterson takes a tour of the newly constructed Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community (ELLC) at Bowie State University.
Built partially from funds worked on in Annapolis by the Senator, this center will create an environment where the spirit of innovation can thrive to support development of student start-up businesses. The six-story, mixed-use ELLC includes an Entrepreneurship Innovation Center, housing the Entrepreneurship Academy, a resource for developing student entrepreneurs, and the Bowie Business Innovation Center, an accelerator for local startup businesses in Prince George’s County. Since its inception in 2017, the Academy has helped launch 57 student businesses. During the 2021 fiscal year, the Bowie BIC served 75 local start-up businesses. One student who the Senator met has already developed a popular APP that is in active use. Another student is developing their own sauce to hit the market very soon.
